Are you interested in exploring PR but still need to get your head around the basics?

A Galway public relations company will be giving sole traders and small businesses the chance to learn how to make their company a household name by offering D.I.Y courses.

Pamela Finn of Think Media, will be hosting the Do It Yourself public relations training course at their offices in Galway City as well as offering one to one tutorials for companies off site.

Do It Yourself PR

Ms Finn said the course was open to everyone and gave businesses who could not afford to run a PR campaign the chance to learn how to do it themselves.

She said it was often very rewarding for people to learn how to write their own press releases aimed at their target market and then see them in print or on-line.

“The response we get from our training courses is fantastic. It is so rewarding to see press releases written following attendance on our course and then published in the local media.’’

“We only book a small number of people on each course so each person gets the attention they deserve.

“Small business owners very often do not realise how many PR opportunities their business creates,” Ms Finn said.

The course will allow them to highlight and recognise what they have to offer and learn the skills needed so they can use PR to their advantage and to boost business using the local media.

Questions answered

“The course identifies what PR actually is, how to recognise a news story and how to write a press release, how to use photographs and how to build the relationship up with the local media.”

The three-hour DIY PR course also includes basic Twitter training and a question and answer session. It costs €200 and includes lunch.Individual sessions are also available off site at companies or individuals request.
