A major renovation project at The Galway Bay Golf Resort in Renville,Galway will expand interior, al fresco dining areas and gathering spaces, and include remodelling the clubhouse’s Ocean Restaurant and Dunes Bar.

The refurbishment will enhance views of the 300 acre golf resort designed by former Ryder cup and World cup legend Christy O Connor Jnr. This beautiful links championship course will benefit greatly from the new clubhouse.

The project, now under way and scheduled for completion in mid-April 2015, includes €1million in renovations and will coincide with an expansion of the business to include a stunning venue, suitable for weddings and corporate events.
Improvements will enhance services and amenities for current members and make the club more inviting to prospective members, according to Martin Daly, the General Manager.

The renovation, headed by Cyril Kelly Architects, will extend interior dining spaces into existing roofed terraces and enhance openness between the main dining area to accommodate larger functions.
The open plan 2nd floor restaurant will create a relaxed atmosphere in the adjoining Dunes Bar, a new outdoor covered patio will offer a stunning backdrop of Galway Bay and the rugged curves of the Atlantic Coastline.

“The new Ocean Restaurant will be the major wow factor,” said Ronan Killeen CEO of the resort. “It will include a peninsula-style bar to take in the outstanding scenery.
The ladies’  and men’s locker rooms, lounge and club room areas will also be enhanced. Improvements include a redesigned changing area with a luxury jacuzzi.
As part of the renovation, a new meeting room will be built, making it an ideal location for the corporate market.

The golf course will remain open during the renovation, and members and non members can look forward to a state of the art clubhouse as well as a brand new events venue.
