Fantastic Festival Finale
The Connemara Mussel Festival, which has been running successfully for more than a decade, kicks off this week, featuring a galaxy of culinary delights, from renowned chef demonstrations to a seafood banquet, a best selling-seafood author, and best of all – plenty of delicious Killary mussels !
The 11th Connemara Mussel Festival ( April 29th – May 1st ) will come to a climax with a Grande Finale Gourmet Buffet at the award winning Renvyle House Hotel. Executive Chef Tim O’Sullivan will prepare a culinary extravaganza of food, showcasing mussels and the best of local produce.
Renvyle House Hotel is a four star family owned Country House located on the Wild Atlantic Way on the estate of 150 acres,it is set on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean with its back to the mountains of Connemara.
During the three day festival there is an action packed programme of walks and talks with an array of cultural events taking place, including a talk by Anne Hodge,Curator of Prints and Drawings at the National Gallery of Ireland about the famous Eton College Drawing Master William Evans, a water-colour painter who depicted the rugged landscape of Connemara in the early 18th century.
Other events include cookery demonstrations over the weekend from some of the most renowned chefs in the country as they showcase their culinary skills.
The Gourmet Buffet takes place on Sunday May 1st at 8pm and tickets are priced at €45, with raffle proceeds going to the RNLI.
